Why did I chose to talk about a Jingu again? Well, it's THE main Shinto shrine. All those enthronement ceremonies of the new Emperor make me really nostalgic of my trip, as all happen in places I happened to visit back then. I feel linked to those places as they left a big mark in my mind, so I want to bring you there.
After a 2-hour trip away from the University, we reached first Meoto Iwa (夫婦岩) or "the Wedded Rocks". They embody the very beginning of the Japanese myths, as the rope symbolises the union between men and women, but most and foremost the wedding between Izanagi and Izanami, the primal Gods who gave birth to the others and who created Japan. That explains why you can see first a shimenawa (しめ縄), a big rope which links our world and the world of spirits, and a torii (鳥居), the portal of a Shrine, on the top of it : it's a sacred place of its own !
Even though the weather wasn't very fine on the coast, those clearly identified shapes beaten by the ocean were very touching and mysterious. I wondered since how much time they were here, how bigger they were in the past, how much people came to see them before me and how much will after.
なぜまた神宮のことについて話そうとしたのは、まず伊勢神宮は神道の一番重要な神宮であり、即位の儀式を見たら、天皇陛下が訪問されている場所の全部を訪ねたことがあるので、すごく懐かしい感じがしたからです。とても記憶に残っている場所なので紹介していきたいと思いました。一緒に行きましょうか！
最初は大学から車で2時間くらい 、夫婦岩に行きました。この岩々は古事記と日本書紀の基本を形にしています。なぜかというと、男女結婚を表すより、日本を設計され、ほかの神々を生み出された日本の初神、イザナミとイザナギの結婚結びを表しているようです。それで、この岩々の間には神と人間の世界を繋がっているしめ縄があり、その上側には鳥居まであります。この岩々自身は神宮みたいなところでしょう！
この海沿いの場合には晴れていなかったが、その海に打たれ、明確になった形の岩々を見た瞬間、神秘的な雰囲気が心の奥に入って、感動しました。これらはいつから存在しているのだろう、過去にはどの大きさや高さをしていたのだろう、私の前に何万人が尋ねに来て、私の後には何万人も来るのだろう、と。
Just near the rocks, we saw Futami Okitama Jinja, dedicated to Miketsu-kami or Inari (御食神 ; 稲荷), Goddess of good crops (which create wealth and food). The thema of wedding and happiness in marriage is celebrated here as well. This place is a yorishiro (依り代) - a God Portal as well, because it is said that Goddess Amaterasu (天照大神) herself appeared to Yamatohime-no-mikoto (大和姫野美琴), the daughter of Suinin (垂仁天皇), 11th Emperor of Japan, when she came here to find the best place to keep the sacred mirror Yata no kagami(八咫鏡) safe. This object is one of the Three Imperial Regalia of Japan and is deeply linked to Amaterasu's legend.
All these frogs are so adorable, I was surprised to see such big ones made out of stone and metal ! The dragon fountain was impressive as well !
岩々のすぐ側には食べ物や福祉の神、御食神/稲荷のために作られた二見興玉神社があります。その場所にも結婚と夫婦の幸福について祈れます。11番目の天皇陛下（垂仁天皇）の娘（大和姫野美琴）が八咫鏡を安全にするところを見つけるためにそこまで来て、天照大神に出会えたといわれていますので「依り代」という場所です。 この鏡は三種の神器のひとつであり、天照大神の物語に深い関係があります。
このカエルたちが可愛かったが、金属や木造のやつが大きくてびっくりしました！竜の形をしている噴水もすごいですね！
Now, please enter Ise Grand Sanctuary, or Ise Jingu (伊勢神宮). Cross the torii, feel the centuries all around you. Forget the world's worries, as you travel into the past. Even though the whole wooden compounds are rebuilt every 20 years, knowing that this sanctuary is more than 1500 years old made me lost my groundings. Feeling the wind, seeing all those old trees around me made me surrender to nature, once again, as before in Nikko or in Koya-san. The sweet but powerful presence of nature is the most interesting part of those places for me. Those places look so perfect... as if Gods made them actually, even though I'm not a believer of any kind. The more I came closer to the honden, the main building of the sanctuary, the most I felt wrapped into a mythical atmosphere.
今こそ、伊勢神宮にお入りください。鳥居を渡り、時代の重さを感じてみてください。この世界の心配なことを一瞬だけ忘れ、過去への旅行をしてみたらどうでしょうか。木造の建物は全部２０年ごと再建されるのを知っているのにもかかわらず、この神宮は１５００年前に初めて建てられたことに私の存在まで忘れるようになってしまいました。日光東照宮と高野山を訪ねた時のように、風に吹かれ、森に囲まれながら自然の一部になりました。神を信じていないのに、この予想以外の場所いると、「ここは完璧すぎて、神みたいな存在が作ってくれたんだろう」と思ってしまいます。神宮の本殿を近づけば近づくほど、神話的な雰囲気に抱かれた感じが強くなりました。
Once in front of the honden, after queuing a little, you reach the very center of the Sanctuary.. but not really. You can't enter inside unless you're a priest or probably the new enthroned Emperor.. So once there, you stay at the threshold, without even being able to touch at the curtains in front of you. A deep but heavy silence surrounds everyone. Inside this little wooden house lies the Yata no kagami, that no mortal can see. I can't help wondering if it really exists or not.. As there are replicas of it, it might but as it's a mythical item as well.. However, as it exists in the minds of a great number of Japanese people, I can't say it's purely produced by imagination. That's really mysterious, and all this mysteries came in the surface during all the rituals done for Emperor Naruhito's enthronement last week, which are still ungoing for the rest of the year. It's fascinating, I want to know more deeply about this. First, I should probably try to read Kojiki again, even if I have bitter memories of the beginning (the birth of all Gods).. It may help me going deeper into this, with putting words on something I can't describe correctly as for now !
本殿の前に着くと、少し並んだ後に、神宮の中央にやっと到着。。でもないのかも！神主や新天皇でいなければ中には入れないんですね。。それで、ここまで来たら、幕を開けずに敷居前に立ち止まるしかできません。本殿の中にある、普通の人間が一生でも見えない八咫鏡を想像しながら深くて重苦しい静かさに囲まれていました。この宝物は本当に存在しているのかな。レプリカもあるので、存在するのかもしれないですが、それは神話的な物ですから。。でも大勢の日本人の心に存在しているので、想像から産んだものしかなく、必ず存在しないとは言えないですよね。。先週から今年末まで行われている新天皇陛下の即位の儀式のために三種の神器が舞台の上に戻ったので、この神秘的な雰囲気とミステリー話が改めて頭に浮かんでしまいました。それについてもっと知りたいですね。そのために、もう一度古事記を読んでみたらどうだろう。この本の始まり、つまりすべての神様の誕生の部分に関する思い出はなんかよくないですが、読むことにしたら今まで言葉で表現できなかったことをもう少しだけ分かるようになるのかも。
I can't remember if it was there exactly, but near the fish basin, which impressed me with its nearly transparent water, I believe we saw oxes or cows which were raised there. They were very pretty and looked healthy, but as I don't have any photo of them, I can't say if they were really there. I spent a really nice moment in Ise Grand Sanctuary, anytime I think of it I feel calm, as if I were walking there once again. I hope I'll be able to return there in the future and feel its peculiar energy.
そこだったかどうかよく覚えていないが、透明な水の漁用水槽のよこには牛か雄牛を見た記憶があります。可愛くて健康がいいことに見えたけど、その動物の写真を持っていないので、本当にここにいたのか正しく言えないのですね。伊勢神宮で過ごした1日は素晴らしくて、今も思い出すとあそこで歩いていたようになる気がして、すぐ落ち着けます。この特別なエネルギーと雰囲気を感じるためにそこにもう一度来られますように。
To end this report, I wanted to recommend one shop of the merchant street of Ise to you : Matsujiro no ho (松治郎の舗). It's a honey shop, their products are of very good quality. It may be a little bit expensive for honey, but the Flower honey I bought there was delicious and I had enough for around 4 months or so, even if I used it a lot. My memories of Ise won't be complete without this honey, so here it is. Thanks for reading this far, I hope you will be able to feel Ise someday too ! レポートを終えますが、終わりの前に他のお勧めしたいところがあります。伊勢のおはらい町にある蜂蜜屋で、「松治郎の舗」です。そこで売られている蜂蜜の質はとてもよくて、値段が少し高いかもしれないが、そこで買った花々の蜂蜜は特に美味しかったです。大きな瓶を４か月くらい使っても、いつもよりいい匂いと味がしました。この蜂蜜について話さないと、伊勢に関する思い出はでき上がっていないので、必ず一言だけ書きたかったです。ここまで頑張って読んでくださってありがとうございました。貴方も伊勢を体験してみたらどうでしょうか！
